Congressional Art Competition
Congressman Lloyd Doggett was on campus in early May to congratulate Marin Maycotte, winner, and Kayla Le, runner-up, for their success in the Congressional Art competition. Marin’s winning painting will hang in the US Capital all next year.
Science Olympiad
LASA Sci-O had a terrific time competing over two days and ended up placing 3rd (out of 30 teams) at the tournament.
Latin State Competition Results
The LASA Latin Club attended the annual TSJCL State Convention in late April, where everyone performed incredibly!
UIL Computer Science
Congratulations to Sean Clarke (Sr), Saffron Lui (Jr), Jai Nagaraj (Jr), and Malcom Roalson (So) in finishing in 2nd place at the UIL Computer Science Regionals at Foster HS in Richmond, TX (southwest of Houston) on April 21st.
LASA Debate News
Exciting news—one of our students, Chloe Kwan, just reached Premier Distinction, the highest degree in the National Speech & Debate Association Honor Society! Please join us in congratulating Chloe on this outstanding achievement. Fewer than 3% of NSDA members earn Premier Distinction prior to graduation! This milestone is a celebration of the hundreds of hours Chloe has spent preparing, practicing, and competing to hone her communication and leadership skills.
UIL String Orchestra Success
Congratulations to the members of the Camerata A, Camerata B, Chamber and Honors Orchestra on their UIL Concert and Sight-Reading success a few weeks ago. Each ensemble earned superior ratings on their concert performance and sight-reading portions, resulting in a sweepstakes trophy award for each orchestra. The students were determined to prepare challenging programs and each group met the moment with confidence, maturity, exceptional focus, and impressive responsiveness.
State German Success!
44 German students from LASA competed against 41 other schools at the 41st Annual Texas State German Contest at Texas State University in San Marcos on February 25th.

Vision and Voice
Josie Bednar's poem Car Crash in Cold Country was chosen as a winner in the 2023 Vision+Voice Poetry Contest. Josie will be filmed reading her winning poem at Austin PBS, as part of a film to be shown at celebration event on April 28th. Congratulations, Josie!
