Last Saturday, January 13, the LASA Latin Club competed at Rice Certamen in Houston and achieved stellar results. Congratulations to LASA's Intermediate certamen team, Advanced certamen team, and all individuals who participated in the academic testing!
The Intermediate team, composed of the lone Luka Zitkovic, earned a total of 30 points during the preliminary rounds, doing very well for a solo team.
The Advanced team, made up of Saachi Agrawal, Kai Benton, Phoebe Herbert, and team captain Saffron Liu earned a total of 590 points during prelims, advancing to finals and earning 135 points there, winning first place in the advanced division!
As for the academic testing, the results are as follows:
- Luka Zitkovic, in the intermediate division, won second place in Latin vocabulary and derivatives, and first place in Latin grammar!
- Saachi Agrawal, in the advanced division, won third place in Latin grammar!
- Kai Benton, in the advanced division, won third place in Latin vocabulary and derivatives, and won first place and highest score (of all divisions) in Roman history and Latin grammar!
- Phoebe Herbert, in the advanced division, won third place in Roman mythology!
- Saffron Liu, in the advanced division, won fifth place in Latin grammar, and won first place and high score in Roman mythology, and Latin vocabulary and derivatives!
