CogAT Admissions Test

Cogat Admissions Test

The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) is a multiple-choice K-12 assessment that measures reasoning skills with different types of verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal questions.

As part of the admissions process, all students must complete the CogAT, which is administered on campus in January.

Saturday, January 25, 2025

12:30-2:20 PM: Last Names A-L

*Students with accommodations must report to the first session of the day regardless of last name.

More Information

  • Students must only attend one session and can choose either date.
  • Students who absolutely cannot attend either session dedicated to their last name may attend the other session. There is no need to let us know. But please try to make one of the sessions dedicated to your last name work.
  • There is no need to sign-up to take the CogAT at LASA. Students should simply show up fifteen minutes before their session is set to start.
  • LASA supplies everything students need to take the test, including pencils to fill out the scantron answer sheet. Students should only bring something to drink and a small snack.
  • We also encourage students to dress in layers with a light jacket or sweater. Our building is old and it is hard to anticipate the inside temperature of any given room. You may find the testing room warm or cold.
  • Students who normally receive testing accommodations may request to receive them at LASA by filling out the accommodation request form.
    • This form is due on the Monday before the test. (So Monday, January 6, 2025 for the Saturday, January 11, 2025 test date and Monday, January 20, 2025 for the Saturday, January 25, 2025 test date.)
    • The form requires you to upload the student’s IAP (Individual Accommodation Page) or IEP (Individual Educational Plan). For students attending a private school or who are being homeschooled a letter from the school with a list of the testing accommodations will suffice.
    • If students who normally receive testing accommodations elect to take the CogAT without their testing accommodations they cannot go back and take the test again with them.
  • We recommend students to google “cogat” for more information and look at the free sample questions. We do not recommend students pay for practice exams.
  • All students complete Form 7, but the test level varies depending on grade level.
    • Current 8th graders: Test Level 13/14
    • Current 9th & 10th graders: Test Level 15/16
    • Current 11th graders: Test Level 17/18
