LASA FLBA Going to Nationals!
LASA's Future Business Leaders of America had a very successful showing at the state competition this year! We had 42 students qualify for state and are sending 15 on to nationals! We had top 5 placements in the following events with the top 4 going to Nationals:
LASA Japanese Students Welcome Students from Oita, Japan
Last Thursday, LASA Japanese students welcomed student guests from Oita, Japan, the sister city of Austin. They learned about Oita City, enjoyed the speaking both Japanese and English, and gave them a campus tour. It was TANOSHII (fun)!
LASA Robotics is going to State!
The LASA robotics team, named Purple Haze (team number 418) participated with 34 other teams at a district level event this past weekend. The team had to compete in a minimum of two to qualify for state level competition. This was their second competition they participated in. It was held at Clear Falls High School in League City, TX, just South of Johnson Space Center. Qualifying rounds took place on Friday March 31st and the morning of April 1st.

LASA Sophomore, Juyeop Lee, competed at the USAPL Federation High School Nationals on Friday, March 31, 2023 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
National Signing Day at LASA
LASA held its national signing day on Wednesday, March 29, 2023. National Signing Day is where student-athletes commit to playing their sport at the collegiate level. We are extremely proud of all of our Class of 2023 student athletes and wish them the best of luck. Congratulations!
AISD-CTE LASA ACC Dual Credit Biotechnology Students Complete the Sakura Science Exchange Program from the Japan Science and Technology Agency
Dual Credit AISD-CTE LASA ACC Biotechnology students and their teacher Joseph Oleniczak traveled to Tokyo, Japan February 24 – March 3, 2023 for the Sakura Science Exchange Program from the Japan Science and Technology Agency.
LASA Student Named Texas Youth Ambassador
Congratulations to Annika Fisher-Eddy who was chosen to be a 2023 Texan Youth Ambassador for the Tourette Association of America! She was recently in DC for a training for it, and on the Tourette Association of America National Advocacy Day, she met and talked to staff members of our Texas senators and representatives to ask them to give funding to the CDC for Tourette Syndrome and co-occurring conditions, and to help Tourette be more widely known so there are less stigma around it. The Tourette Association of America is the only non-profit organization to advocate for Tourette and other tic disorders. Way to advocate, Annika!

UIL Academics
LASA students have been making their mark in UIL Academics for many years. This year was no exception. Students competed in various events, including Mathematics, Science, Journalism, and Computer Science. In each event, the students worked hard to prepare themselves for the competition, with the aid of their teachers, and to represent their school with pride.
Alley Cat Players received Heller Awards Nominations
The cast and crew of LASA's Into the Woods were nominated for five Heller Awards. This awards ceremony will be April 19th at 6:30 at The Long Center.
LASA Debate Seniors CH win Baker Award
LASA CH (Seniors Sam Church and Alex Huang) are OFFICIALLY the recipients of the 2022-23 David P. Baker Award for Season-Long Excellence in Policy Debate.
UIL One Act Success
Congratulations to the cast and crew of LASA's UIL One-Act play for taking second place in district and third place in bi-district. This success now let’s us advance to Area for only the second time in Alley Cat Player history! Good luck this Thursday at the Area competition.
