Raptor Diver an NCAA “Top Recruit”

LASA Swim and Dive would like to celebrate junior, Elizabeth Bircher, who received Honorable Mention in a recent Top 10 NCAA Dive Recruits List for the class of 2026.   Elizabeth is a Varsity 1meter Diver for LASA as well as a 3meter and Platform Diver for Longhorn Aquatics.  

Region 18 Jazz Success

Congratulations to our students who auditioned for the TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association) Region 18 Jazz Band! Approximately 100 students auditioned from 13 high schools across our region.

Raptor Water Polo

LASA water polo is on fire this season!   We’ve played two district tournaments and the girls are tied for first place with Anderson HS. After losing to Anderson in the first tournament, the girls took an early lead in Friday’s second matchup and defeated the Trojans 6-5.

All City Orchestra

Banned Books Op-Ed Contest Winner

LASA sophomore Sadie Sarrat has taken third place in the Austin Library Foundation's Save the Books Op-Ed Contest.  The theme was "what the freedom to read means to me." Congratulations, Sadie! Way to represent!  

Hispanic Heritage Month Art Winner

Senior Margareth Contreras Montoya’s drawing is the visual arts face of Hispanic Heritage Month.   This is an incredible honor and we couldn’t be more proud.   Check out the attachment to this message to see her beautiful work.  

Environmental Recognition

Junior Elijah Scott was nominated and selected as a Net-Zero Hero by the City of Austin. Net-Zero Heroes are individuals around Austin that are working in their own ways to advance the Office of Sustainability’s mission and vision.

Congratulations to our National Champion FBLA team and a special shout out to the members who placed.  Arihanth Nuka – 2nd in Advertising Jack Fenton – 10th in Economics Aditya Gupta, Eamonn Keane & Andrew Teodorovich – 1st in International Business

LASA Represented in the Olympics

Couldn’t be more proud of Yaseen Abdalla, Class of 2019, who represented Sudan in the Men’s Olympic Marathon.  He finished 33rd, about 5 minutes behind the winner in a very difficult course and set a national record for his country.  Keep going Yaseen, we’re cheering you on!

This summer, LASA junior Kai Benton attended the National Junior Classical League convention in Knoxville, Tennessee.
