Aquaraps Off to a Great Start

The LASA Swim and Dive Team had a double-header on October 25th and 26th, competing at both the AISD Invitational and the Angleton Surfside Invitational.
At the AISD Invite, the boys Medley Relay dominated the opening of the meet with a 1st place medal.  All four members were either members or alternates of the State Boys Relay lineup last year.  Justin Shi, ZJ Hays, Isaac Truelove, and Auggie Sefcik proved that LASA has what it takes to fight for gold at the 2025 State Meet.  Frogby Sachs also podiumed with a Bronze for Diving.
Despite leaving the meet halfway through in order to reach Angleton for the Dive Meet that night, the Boys Team amazingly scored enough points in the first half to place 5th overall and one point ahead of our friendly crosstown rivals in blue.
At the Angleton Invitational, both teams had some outstanding highlights.  The girls team was 3rd overall, but the Boys 1st place trophy and outrageous overall score allowed the combined team to also gain 1st place by more than 200 points!  Highlights at Angleton include:

  • Bella Santos - 3rd in 100 Fly
  • Auggie Sefcik - 1st in 50 Free, 1st in 100 Fly, (and 1st in 2 relays)
  • ZJ Hays - 1st in 100 Breaststroke, 3rd in 100 Fly (and 1st in 2 Relays)
  • Eli Sefcik - 3rd in 50 Free, 3rd in 100 Breaststroke  (and 1st in 2 Relays)
  • Isaac Truelove - 2nd in 200 IM (and 1st in 2 Relays)

Perhaps one of the most exciting moments of the two meets over two days was Freshman, Adam Truelove, swimming his gold medal 500 Freestyle.  Adam came in more than 15 seconds faster than the silver medalist.
The LASA Aquaraps have reigning champions and new freshman talent leading off this amazing start to our competition season.  At the same time, we are proud to share that our roster has grown to 100 Swimmers  and Divers of all different skill levels.  The Raptors will compete next at Burnet on November 7th and in Georgetown on November 15th.
