LASA ranked #32 in the nation, #4 in Texas on US News & World Report Ranking 2023-2024

Today, the U.S. News & World Report released the 2023 Best High School Rankings. LASA ranks #32 in the nation and #4 in the state of Texas. All Rankings: #32 in National Rankings; #4 in Texas High Schools, #1 in Austin, TX Metro Area High Schools, #1 in Austin ISD High Schools, and #34 in STEAM High Schools. Taken from the US World & News Report website, there were only slight changes to these schools' overall scores, which are based on the following six factors.

National Recognition Program Honorees

Student Leader Highlight: Vedant Sangani

Each summer, Bank of America holds its Student Leader Program where hundreds of community-minded high schoolers gain work experience with local nonprofits through a paid eight-week internship.

LASA Sophomore, Kai Benton, places 1st in Roman History & Ancient Geography

This summer, LASA sophomore Kai Benton attended the National Junior Classical League convention in Atlanta, Georgia. He placed 1st in Roman History and Ancient Geography, 3rd in Mottoes, and 5th in Mythology.

Sophomore, Elizabeth Bircher, places 3rd at USA Diving Junior Nationals

LASA rising Sophomore and Raptor's Swim & Dive team's diver, Elizabeth Bircher,  placed 3rd on August 1, 2023 at USA Diving Junior Nationals on Platform for 14-15 year-old girls in Mission Viejo, CA. Congratulations, Elizabeth!

LASA Biotech Teacher Awarded Excellence in Science Teaching!

Biotechnology teacher Joseph Oleniczak from the Liberal Arts and Science Academy High School in Austin Independent School District was named the 2023 Grand Prize Winner of the Texas Medical Association Ernest and Sarah Butler Award for Excellence in Science Teaching, which is given to educators that exhibit unwavering dedication, innovative teaching methods, and a profound passion for shaping the minds of students. For this achievement, Joseph Oleniczak received a $20,000 prize plus a $5,000 school resource grant.

LASA Student to Represent Austin in Distinguished Young Women Program

Congratulations and good luck to junior Advika Sharma. Earlier this year, Advika participated in the Distinguished Young Women program and earned the title Distinguished Young Woman of Austin, 2024. She will be representing Austin as a finalist in the State level program this June.

GT Showcase

The AISD department of Advanced Academics are proud to announce that more than 200 GT student projects were selected for the 2nd annual Austin ISD District GT Student Showcase. It is an honor to be able to showcase the outstanding work these students completed this school year.

International HOSA - Future Health Professionals Competitions

Senior Nisha Vishag placed second at the State HOSA Competitions in Epidemiology and will be competing in the International HOSA - Future Health Professionals Competitions to be held in Dallas/Fort Worth this June.

Cybersecurity Scholars

The National Cyber Scholarship Foundation recognizes high school students who have demonstrated exceptional cybersecurity prowess and who wish to pursue a career in a growing field in critical need of their talent. The NCSF's

Congressional Art Competition

Congressman Lloyd Doggett was on campus in early May to congratulate Marin Maycotte, winner, and Kayla Le, runner-up, for their success in the Congressional Art competition. Marin’s winning painting will hang in the US Capital all next year.

Science Olympiad

LASA Sci-O had a terrific time competing over two days and ended up placing 3rd (out of 30 teams) at the tournament.
