Summer Applications for 10th - 12th Grade

LASA has recently been given permission to run summer applications for incoming 10th - 12th grade applicants.

Open: Monday, June 30th, 2025
Close: Saturday, July 12th, 2025

Deadline: 11:59pm, on Saturday, July 12, 2025

 

 

You must reside within the Austin ISD boundaries in order to apply to LASA High School for the 2025-26 school year.
For families who own their home, the homestead exemption is used to determine primary residency.

Student:

  • Step 1: Ask two (2) teachers for recommendations. One math or science teacher and one English or social studies teacher. 
  • Step 2: Complete the Supplemental Materials Form by July 12, 2025 (Form will open June 30.)
    • 3 short answer questions
    • creative work
    • creator’s statement
    • upload final year report card from the previous grade level (2023/2024)
    • upload final year report card from the current grade level (2024/2025)
    • upload most recent (must be dated within 45 days) utility bill (electricity or gas only)

Parent:

  • Step 1: Complete Enroll Austin Registration for 2025/2026 selecting LASA. (LASA will become available as an option on June 30.)
  • Step 2: Under “NEXT STEPS” in Enroll Austin
    • Recommendations: enter email addresses for the two teachers your student asked for a teacher recommendation
    • Parent ID: upload parent driver license
    • Proof of Residence: upload lease or mortgage statement
    • Test Scores: upload final year report card from the previous grade level (2023/2024)
    • Report Card: upload final year report card from the current grade level (2024/2025)
In order to minimize the chance of email sent by the application system and the Applications Team being classified as spam by your email provider, please add @lasahighschool.org to your safe sender list (google how to whitelist a domain for your email provider) and notify all parent/guardians to do the same. 

Summer Application Specific Information

The summer application process is much the same as the regular application process. The major differences are:

  1. The summer application process is only open to rising 10th, 11th, and 12th graders.
  2. Summer applicants do not take the CogAT admission test.
  3. Because summer applicants do not take the CogAT admission test, the maximum score is 20, rather than 25
  4. All applicants are asked to submit their final year report cards from the past two school years.

AISD is closed June 30-July 6. Please use the Application FAQ and the Summer Application Specific FAQ to answer any questions you may have during that time. Starting on July 7, 2025 you may email jo.koerth@austinisd.org or call 512-414-5272 with any questions you may have. 

Summer Application Specific FAQ

Q: Why is LASA offering summer applications?
A: We recognize that our residency requirements are very strict. Families who are moving to AISD from out of state are rarely able to establish residency by the February deadline. As such, if seats become available we can offer a second round of applications in the summer if district approves it.

Q: Why can’t rising 9th graders apply?
A: Our 9th grade class for 2025/2026 is full. It would be unfair to make students apply when we have no additional seats to offer.

Q: I was told no late applications were available. What happened?
A: At the time you were given the information, it was correct. We were just given permission by district to run summer applications for 10th through 12th grade. 

Q: I am having a really hard time getting hold of my teachers since it’s the summer, what do I do?
A: Contact your prior school directly. They can assist in communicating with teachers in the summer. 

Q: How does my teacher access the teacher recommendation form?
A: Your parent has to enter their email addresses under NEXT STEPS in Enroll Austin and click send.

Q: My teacher received the email with the link to the recommendation form, but it doesn’t work for them.
Ask them to copy paste the link directly into the browser address bar to see if that helps. If they absolutely cannot access the recommendation link, they are welcome to send a letter of recommendation to jo.koerth@austinisd.org 

Q: Why do current AISD students have to submit their report cards?
A: LASA does not have access to report cards from other AISD schools in the summer.

Q: I’m a student at an AISD school, how do I access my report card?
A: Your latest report card is available in the parent portal under the "Student Documentation" tab. If you do not have your report card from the 2023/2024 school year, you can reach out to your school and request a copy.

Q: When and how will I find out whether I was accepted or not?
A:  You will receive a letter in late July.
