On Saturday, December 14th, the LASA Swim and Dive Team competed at the Cedar Ridge Invitational in Round Rock against 14 other teams, including many powerhouse 6A teams from AISD.
This was our 7th meet this season. The Boys Team is on a winning streak, placing 1st place in Team Points in 4 of the last 5 meets. The girls have been averaging 2nd place in Team Points.
Back in November the Boys and Girls Teams swept 1st place across the board at the Burnet Invitational and 2nd place across the board at Georgetown.
In December, our "Swimmers of the Meet" at our last two competitions were all swimmers who helped sustain our Relay domination this season. At the Buda Hays Invitational last week, Yuki Naik and Scarlett Christian both volunteered to sub in for absent B-Relay members, earning those important extra relay points that help the Girls win 2nd Place.
This week at Cedar Ridge, Pratik Gurijala, Wyatt Fenton, Kieran McDonald, Jeffrey Norman, and Vinson Ratcliffgardy all leveled up to A-Team Relays and held onto the Gold in both the 200 Free and 400 Free Relays.
Sophomore Kiara Mallen and Senior Auggie Sefcik remain points leaders in the pool at every meet they attend, pulling in massive amounts of points in both individual and relay events, including at Cedar Ridge this weekend.
On the Diving Team, Senior Captain Frogby Sachs just competed in the last Dive Meet until District. We are all cheering Frogby on as we enter this exciting Senior Championship Season. Junior Captain Elizabeth Bircher recently made a verbal commitment to dive and study at Duke University. Our Divers have been a huge part of the team's success since LASA Athletics' founding in 2020.
A final shout out to a crew of truly amazing, young talent in our Freshmen class. The largest Freshman class LASA Swim and Dive has ever seen, the class of 2028 has 31 swimmers! Their class is helping lead the team to victory with amazing performances from the following 1st year District Team Members:
Cici Bomba
Violet Goodwin
Eleanor Marti
Wilma Wood
Eli Sefcik
Adam Truelove
With their help, LASA will be heading into a strong Championship Season. We have one more meet in January and then our District Championship on February 1st.
