Many weeks of hard work at early morning practices paid off for the LASA Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams at the District 24-5A Championship Meet on Thursday. The Boys Varsity and JV Teams both successfully defended their District titles. Liam Brandyberry (10) took an early lead and never looked back on his way to being crowned District Champion. Liam was followed by his talented sophomore teammates Joaquín Gonzales (2nd), Cruz Alcorta (6th) Hugo Radjef (10th) and John Wilson (12th). Junior Morgan Flickinger and freshman Arin Gosavi rounded out the Varsity squad. Junior James Rindfuss won the Boys JV race, and behind him, five other LASA runners placed in the top ten to easily claim first place for the JV Boys.
Junior Eva Cragnolino dominated in the Girls Varsity race, making the District Meet the fifth of six races this season that she's won outright. Seniors Sydney Jones and Sydney Condron were second and third for the Girls Varsity Team, followed by sophomore Alexis Abramovitz, senior Tessa Cook, freshman Scarlett Miranda-Benitez, and junior Priscilla Innmon. The LASA Girls Varsity and JV both finished a strong second behind Anderson High School.
The LASA Girls and Boys Varsity Teams will move on to the Region III Cross Country Championship in Huntsville, TX on October 22nd. Way to go, Raptors!
