Texas Music Teachers Association (TMTA) Piano Winners Advancing to State
Congratulations to Ned Yu and Trevor Yu for their success at the TMTA regional piano competition. Our region is only sending two pianists to State, and they are both from LASA! Way to represent! Best of luck Ned and Trevor!
Regional Science Fair
Congratulations to the students who participated in the Austin Energy Regional Science Fair on their hard work and dedication. Their projects were creative, innovative, and well-researched. It was inspiring to see the tremendous enthusiasm and commitment the students put into their projects, and it was great to see the results of their efforts.
LASA Sophomore, Vivian Prather, wins 2nd at Nengajo Contest!
Congratulations to LASA Sophomore, Vivian Prather, who won second place in the most artistic category of the Nengajo (New Year's card) contest sponsored by the Japan America Society of Dallas/Fort Worth. Her work was chosen from 113 entries!
LASA Film Students Advance to UIL State with "Earth to You"
LASA Film students have advanced to UIL State with "Earth to You." It will screen on Feb 22 at 6pm at the LBJ Library with all of the State finalists. Full schedule

Scholastic Art and Writing Awards
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers. The Alliance is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to identify students with exceptional artistic and literary talent and present their remarkable work to the world through the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. The Awards give students opportunities for recognition, exhibition, publication, and scholarships. Please congratulate all the LASA Winners:
Film students advance to semi-final round for UIL
Congratulations to the cast and crew of the film "Earth to You". They have advanced to the Semi-final round of UIL. 18 films made it to this level, and 5 will be selected to play at the Paramount at the State level.
Erfolg bei Sprachfest
On February 4th 50 students from the LASA German Department competed at Sprachfest. Students from all levels competed in dozens of different events ranging from art projects, musical performance, drama, oral tests, written tests, and a Quiz-Bowl type competition.
Raptor Swim & Dive Compete at Region VII Championship
The LASA Swim and Dive Team completed at the Region VII Championship this past Friday and Saturday. 35 Raptors participated in the meet. The Boys Team came in 2nd place overall with 343 points, while the girls placed 5th with 233 points. Many competitors achieved PRs at the meet, and the following individuals receive their Region Medals on the Podium:
Sci-O Competes at MIT
Earlier in January, the LASA Science Olympiad team traveled to MIT in Boston, MA to compete at the MIT Science Olympiad Invitational. They competed against 67 other teams from across the nation in 23 different events. The students learned a lot, got to experience a true NE winter with snow, and tackle the challenge of one of the most difficult Sci-O competitions.
Freshman, Liam Harris, receives Scholastic Art Award at Regions
Freshman Liam Harris (LASA ’26) received Scholastic Art Awards at the regional level for his photography and digital art. His photo, “Play It Loud,” received a Gold Key, and will advance to national competition.
