Choice Sheet Event at LASA 3/29

Good afternoon everyone,

As you all know, tomorrow (Saturday, March 29) is the first chance to attend LASA's mandatory choice sheet event. The second (and last) opportunity is Thursday next week (April 3). The Thursday presentation will be virtual and the link to the livestream will be posted on the website about 5-10 minutes before it's set to start.

It's important to note that the student and a parent/legal guardian must attend one of the two choice sheet presentations.

All of the information that you need regarding the choice sheet presentations is available here: https://lasa.austinschools.org/news/2025/03/28/elective-fair-choice-sheet-event-saturday-march-29th-2025

I will not go into details about the event in this email, please click the link for all the information you may need.

But, I want to highlight a couple of things:

  1. Cell phone reception on campus is notoriously poor. Please at least skim the LASA Course Guide at home.

  2. WiFi is available (AISD-GUEST) but set up is required each time you try to connect to it.

  3. Incoming 9th graders, use the attached worksheet to see which choices and electives are available to you, then read up on them in the LASA Course Guide.

  4. Check the attached map for where to park. Please do not park on the neighborhood side of the street.

  5. Save all your questions regarding courses for the choice sheet presentation.

A couple of other, non-choice sheet related things to be aware of:

Our registrar informed me that some very proactive families are already reaching out to her. She wants you to know that she is still hard at work with the current school year so please hold your horses.

She will be reaching out to the families of new-to-AISD families with more instructions. There is no need to reach out to her.

She will not be reaching out to the families of students who are already at an AISD school unless there is an issue. There is no need to reach out to her.

I know some of my anxious families right now are thinking "I pressed the ACCEPT button, but did I really ACCEPT? Did LASA see it?" Your instinct may be to reach out just to double check. Please trust me when I say, you will know if we can't see it on our end.

Everyone who has not made a decision in Enroll Austin yet have received several emails from me labelled "URGENT" and our amazing front office team has been trying to call them all morning.

As we wrap up admissions and choice sheets, everyone at LASA will be focusing on EOCs, AP Exams, and getting our current seniors graduated. Incoming students will not hear much from us until the summer, and even then there won't be much communication.

Everything sent out will be posted to lasahighschool.org/welcome. If you're worried you have missed something, or you find yourself with a question, check there before reaching out.

I also want to encourage y'all to do your own research to answer your own questions. Other than attending tomorrow's elective fair and/or the parent coffee, there are many excellent resources on the welcome page.

If you have a question, odds are great that someone has had it before. Please check all the resources before giving up and reaching out to LASA. (Our website also has an amazing search function that you can try if the answer is escaping you.)
