Good evening,
You are receiving this email because you have been offered a seat at LASA for the 2025/2026 School Year. Congratulations!
First, I want you to take a moment and be really, really proud of yourself. You rocked a very difficult application process and earned a spot at LASA. Whether or not you choose to take us up on the offer and attend LASA this fall, you did a great job.
In this email, I am going to address:
-
How to accept (or decline) the offered seat at LASA.
-
Next steps
-
The welcome letter
-
The upcoming (mandatory) choice sheet event
-
Updated times for the Parent Coffee
HOW TO ACCEPT (OR DECLINE) THE OFFERED SEAT AT LASA
Many of you may already have done this part! You can skip down to the next section “Next steps”.
Parents/guardians will have to go back into Enroll Austin and click “NEXT STEPS” on the blue ribbon at the top of the page.
Then scroll down to the student who applied to and was accepted at LASA. Scroll down a little more to where the schools are ranked. The status should say something like “Offer Extended” and there will be two buttons. One that says “Accept” and one that says “Decline”.
You must press one or the other by this Friday, March 28th. The offer expires after Friday, so it’s really important that you make your choice this week. This is a district deadline, so LASA has no control over it.
Because it’s a hard deadline, I will start reaching out to everyone who hasn’t made a choice yet tomorrow. I understand that you may be taking your time to decide, which is absolutely fine.
BUT, I don’t want someone to accidentally miss the deadline because they weren’t aware they had to take action. So, I hope you forgive me for “badgering” you if you’re undecided.
For clarity: I am not here to try to make you click the “accept” button. Where you go to school is a family decision. I don’t know what’s best for you or your family. I only want to ensure that you have a chance to make the choice before it disappears.
NEXT STEPS
If you have decided to decline LASA, you can stop reading here. I’m sad I won’t get to know you better over the next four years, but I am so excited that you’ve found a school that you want to attend.
Once you have clicked the “ACCEPT” button, the status will change to “Accepted-Pending Registration.” This is the final status message available.
If you check the small wall of text just beneath the title Next Steps on the NEXT STEPS page in Enroll Austin you will find the first paragraph:
“Accepted-Pending Registration - Status resulting from an accepted offer. Next step is for families to complete Annual Forms within Enroll Austin. This status will NOT update once Annual Forms are submitted. the confirmation email will be your final status.”
Avid readers of my information emails may remember that I told you to ignore the blue “Complete Annual Forms” button at the bottom of your student’s little tile in Enroll Austin because that’s for later. (Here’s a visual reminder. Look for the orange arrow.)
Well, it’s later now. The annual forms need to be filled out, and the required documents must be uploaded in order to register your student. Some of you may have already done everything needed, feel free to relax now!
That being said, if you uploaded your proof of residence in November-February you will have to upload it again. Utility bills and mortgage statements must be dated within 45 days of submission. Note that you must submit two proofs of residence for registration (and no, two utility bills do not count).
I know very little about registration, so I won’t be very helpful here! Thankfully, our wonderful registrar is taking over that part. She will reach out if you are missing anything, or have to reupload a document, so there is no need to worry.
For now, all you need to do is:
-
Hit that accept button (if the status says “Accepted-Pending Registration” you are golden!)
-
Attend one of the two mandatory choice sheet events and turn in the choice sheet. (More on this further down!)
WELCOME LETTER
The welcome letter you were told to look out for in the acceptance card was mailed out on Monday (3/24). If you have not received it yet, it’s likely still making its way to you through the mysterious ways of the US Post Office.
If you are still anxiously awaiting the welcome letter, you can read it on our webpage on the “secret” new student page: lasahighschool.org/welcome
Just scroll almost all the way down and you’ll find the welcome letter in English and Spanish. These include information on our upcoming choice sheet events, dates for new student orientation, more information about the band and orchestra, and much more!
The most important dates are also listed under upcoming dates. We just updated them to include the new student orientation dates so families can plan their summer travel.
CHOICE SHEET EVENT(S)
All students must attend a choice sheet event with their parent/legal guardian. There are two opportunities, one in person and one virtual. The dates are up on the welcome page (and have been since before spring break).
This Saturday (3/29) we host an optional Elective Fair in the LASA Cafeteria. Doors open at 8:55 AM (please don’t arrive earlier than that!) and the event goes from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. This event is come and go.
It’s followed by our in-person choice sheet presentation in the LASA large Gym which goes from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM. At the end of the event, students will submit their choice sheet online.
For students who cannot attend the choice sheet presentation this weekend, we also give the presentation virtually next week on Thursday (4/3) from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The link to the livestream will be posted on the front page of our website 15 minutes before the presentation starts.
Before you attend the presentation, please go over the LASA specific requirements and elective choices. This information is available in the LASA Course Guide: tinyurl.com/
If you have questions on LASA courses, please save them for the choice sheet event.
The choice sheet must be submitted no later than 11:59 PM on Thursday, April 3.
UPDATE: PARENT COFFEE TIMES
Every year, our parent organization (PFLASA - Parents and Friends of LASA) host a parent coffee for the parents of incoming students. This is a chance for parents (without their students) to connect with other parents and get the down-low on LASA.
You should have received an invitation to it in the acceptance card. Since this year, the parent coffee coincides with the choice sheet event, they decided to change the times that were printed on the invitation.
The come-and-go event will now coincide with the elective fair, running from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
Before I leave you, I want to ask you all to please bookmark lasahighschool.org/welcome
We add information to this page as needed. If you find yourself with a question between now and the start of school in August, 2025, go to the welcome page first. It will likely be answered there.
Since admissions are “over” after the choice sheet events, this inbox will close on April 4th.
Finally, I love how much faith y’all have in me! But I am not the person to ask about choice sheets, LASA courses, or registration. Please save those questions for one of the LASA Choice Sheet events.
Congratulations again!
