You are receiving this email because you have applied to LASA. Congratulations! This email is designed to keep you updated on the post-application process. If you don’t want to receive these emails any more, please fill out this form. (I promise you won’t hurt my feelings.)
Good morning everyone,
You did it! Congratulations! Now for most of you, this means there is nothing more to do. But for me, the real work just started.
I wanted to send you a quick update on the post-deadline process.
On Wednesday, I sent an email to all applicants who had an issue with their submitted creative work. This email was sent from LASAadmission@austinisd.org
I thought I would be able to send out an email by Friday to everyone letting them know either that their application is complete (my favorite email to send!) or that there’s something we still need.
But between the wealth of materials submitted in the days leading up to the deadline, our more stringent residency checks, and a couple of Enroll Austin oddities, it’s taken me longer than I thought.
The “application complete” emails are sent continuously as I receive and check materials. So they’re not really an issue. These are sent from DoNotReply@lasahighschool.org
But, the email letting you know if something is missing or needs to be resubmitted is a little more complicated and because I write personalized notes on what is missing and how to resubmit it takes some time. I was finally able to send that email yesterday evening.
This email is sent from admissions@lasahighschool.org
Please don’t be alarmed if you receive one of these. Just follow the instructions. This year, I have had to send more of these than normal because of a combination of our more intense residency checks, and an annoying Enroll Austin glitch. The Enroll Austin glitch keeps me from being able to access materials uploaded to Enroll Austin. More specifically, the parent ID.
I need to verify the parent name in order to verify the address. I use the parent ID to do this. But if I don’t have the parent ID– You can see where I am going with this.
So, the majority of applicants getting the “action required” email will note that “proof of residence” says that it’s “MISSING OR INCOMPLETE” and the little note below will let you know that the problem is that I can’t access the uploaded parent ID and what to do next.
I know the tone of the “action required” email is a little more urgent than previous emails. That’s because we’re coming up on my deadline and that one is ironclad. No wiggle room. (To be clear, I am not talking about a deadline that I’ve invented. But the deadline by which I have to have everything ready for scoring.)
I want y’all to have the best chance possible of getting into LASA and that requires getting these materials from you.
There is no need to panic. Just follow instructions. Remember, as long as you live in district, I am rooting for all of you to get in.
(NOTE: I still have about 10% of applications left to go through so if you haven’t received either the application complete or action required email yet, don’t worry. I’ll try to have that out by the end of today.)
Now, whenever I send out an action required email, my inbox and the LASA Upload form immediately fill up. So while yesterday, I had almost dug my way to the top of the mountain, I just received an avalanche of more work.
So, just like before the deadline, I ask that you:
-
Don’t submit materials via email
-
Do submit them via the LASA Upload form
-
Try to tamp down the urge to email me and let me know that you’ve submitted what was missing (I can see that you did)
-
Refrain from emailing or calling to check if everything was submitted correctly this time
I will not stop my work to check the status of individual applications. I will go through all materials (re-)submitted and then send out another email. If things are still missing or incomplete, I will notify you.
Decisions go out on March 14, 2025.
Best of luck everyone!
