The LASA cross country team participated at the UIL District 24-5A & 26-6A XC Championship on October 13, 2022. The LASA Raptors are District Champs for Varsity Girls, Varsity Boys, and Junior Varsity Girls. And not far behind, the Junior Varsity Boys came in 2nd! Way to run, Raptors!
Our LASA Boys' and Girls' Cross-Country Squads both came away triumphant from last Thursday's District 24-5A Championships. The Varsity Girls were led by senior Sophie Dale (2nd) followed by sophomores Tessa Cook (4th) and Sydney Jones (6th). Senior Tate Philpott and Junior Elizabeth Ree placed in the fourth and fifth positions for the Raptor Girls, extending the Girls' multi-year status as District Champs.
The LASA Varsity Boys dominated the field. Brothers Colby (9th grade) and Kepler (12th grade) Huntress finished first and second overall. Seniors Charlie Gardner and Asa Shepard followed in 3rd and 4th places, and Junior Vance Mader rounded out the top five for the team with a ninth-place finish overall.
Freshman Beatrice Klien was the overall winner in the Girls JV Race, leading the JV Girls to victory in the District. The Boys JV Race was led by senior Diego Prozzi, who placed 2nd overall. The Boys JV squad had a strong performance but came up just a single point short of District victory, behind the MacCallum JV Team.
