Growing up in her hometown, Port Arthur, Texas, JaMetria developed a motto to live by. “Discipline and Dedication will determine your Destination!” Being disciplined and dedicated led her to every single accomplishment she has earned. She began her journey playing collegiate basketball for an HBCU, Jarvis Christian University. She graduated with a B.A. of Business Administration with a concentration in Management with honors; Salutatorian while assisting the Sports Information Director.

After Jarvis, JaMetria decided to continue her education at Sam Houston State University where she earned a Master of Science in Sports Management. She interned for the Houston Rockets, Dynamo, Astros, and NRG Park to assist with the Houston Rodeo. She gained professional experience in operations, ticket sales, data analysis, field management, event coordination, and public relations.

After graduate school, she became the assistant women’s basketball coach for Southwestern University. Then went on to take on a bigger role as the Director of Athletics for IDEA Public Schools. She has always coached top athletes in the Austin Metro Area through AAU basketball coaching at the Regional and National Level. Throughout her career she has been awarded Master Coaching, Coach of the Year 2022, Best Field Athletic Field of the Year, and Athletic Director of the Year. Her expertise as a professional is building relationships and doing workshops to help coaches develop people skills, implementing strategies for operations of athletic facilities, and of course player development on and off the field/court.

She is now coming from Del Valle High school as the new Head Girls Basketball coach for LASA High school! In her spare time, JaMetria will be coaching a ladies Adidas 3SSB basketball team.
